Daylight saving time is handled automatically
Many countries move their clocks forward in spring and back in autumn, on different dates. Instead of using fixed offsets, this world clock uses the official IANA time zone database built into your browser, so each city’s time changes on the correct date automatically. Cities currently on daylight saving time are marked “DST”.
Understanding UTC offsets
UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) is the world’s reference time. Every time zone is described as an offset from UTC. For example, New York is UTC−5 in winter and UTC−4 in summer, and India is UTC+5:30 all year. Some places use offsets with 30 or 45 minutes, such as Nepal (UTC+5:45).
Tips for planning across time zones
- Check the “ahead” or “behind” label before scheduling a call.
- Watch for the date: a city may already be “Tomorrow” or still “Yesterday”.
- Remember that daylight saving dates differ between the US, Europe and the Southern Hemisphere, so the gap between two cities can change for a few weeks each year.
